Last year Google started labelling sites as insecure if they had a form on the site but did not use https (i.e. that the website has an SSL certificate installed to encrypt all traffic between the website and the user).
Shortly this will be extended to all sites irrespective of whether there is a form or not. Added to the additional requirements of GDPR and this means that effectively all websites should be changing to https if they haven’t already done so.
